Metaplanet Adds 1,271 Bitcoins to Reserves

Metaplanet has bolstered its Bitcoin holdings by acquiring 1,241 BTC, valued at approximately $126.7 million, demonstrating the company’s confidence in Bitcoin’s long-term potential.

As of May 12, 2025, Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin reserves stand at 6,796 BTC, with an overall investment of about $608.2 million at an average cost of $89,492 per Bitcoin.

CEO Simon Gerovich highlighted their Bitcoin acquisition strategy over the past year, which has achieved an impressive 170% yield. Some industry experts, like Adam Back, have even suggested that Metaplanet’s approach surpasses that of MicroStrategy.

This development follows the firm’s announcement last week of plans to issue its 13th Series of Ordinary Bonds, aiming to raise $25 million for more Bitcoin purchases.

Metaplanet continues to leverage its EVO FUND for bond issuance as part of its ongoing strategy to increase Bitcoin holdings and is nearing its target of 10,000 BTC in treasury by the end of 2026.
