HIVE Blockchain to Buy Bitcoin Miners From Intel

HIVE Blockchain Technologies has inked an agreement with US chip manufacturer Intel to purchase Bitcoin mining equipment based on an ASIC chip developed by the corporation.

A part of the agreement, a batch of miners will be made to HIVE.

According to the announcement, the first devices are expected to be delivered in the second half of the year and the deliveries will be completed in a period of 12 months. Although the company has not disclosed how many devices it has ordered, it has specified that after the full deployment of new installations, its Bitcoin hashrate will increase by 95% from the current 1.9 EH/s.

Intel’s “high-performance blockchain accelerator” will provide lower power consumption than existing ASIC miners on the market, HIVE Blockchain Technologies’ CEO has said.

Intel launched the Bonanza Mine chip as well as a prototype miner based on it during the ISSCC international conference in February.
