Robinhood Shares Plans to Acquire Crypto Firm WonderFi

Robinhood has announced plans to acquire WonderFi, a prominent Canadian fintech and crypto platform, for $178.9 million CAD (250 million CAD). The purchase price for WonderFi’s shares is set at $0.26 CAD each.

Robinhood revealed the deal on May 13, marking a strategic move to expand internationally into the Canadian cryptocurrency market.

According to the announcement, Robinhood will fund the acquisition with cash, expected to finalize in the latter half of 2025, subject to regulatory, court, and shareholder approvals.

WonderFi currently manages over CAD 2.1 billion in custodied assets and operates two regulated digital asset exchanges in Canada, Bitbuy and Coinsquare. Additionally, in 2024, the platform achieved a trading volume of CAD 3.57 billion and reported revenues of CAD 62.1 million.
