Australia Appoints New Pro-crypto Assistant Minister

Australia has appointed Andrew Charlton as Assistant Minister for Science, Technology, and the Digital Economy, as well as Cabinet Secretary, to advance its agenda on digital asset regulation and tech sector modernization.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the appointment on Monday, highlighting Charlton’s economic expertise and international experience as making him “exceptionally qualified” for the dual role.

“His policy role will focus on collaborating with Tim Ayres, Minister for Science, Technology, and the Digital Economy, to address new technology, AI, and their impacts on work and our evolving economy,” Albanese stated in Canberra.
