Volume of Venture Financing of DeFi Sector Fell to $176.3M Last Month

The total volume of decentralized finance-focused venture capital deals amounted to $176.3 million last month, which is the lowest since September 2021.

In the total influx of venture investments in the blockchain industry, the share of the DeFi sector fell to 9% against 18% in April.

According to analyst John Dantoni, for the first time since July 2020, DeFi funding was not among the top two types of deals in the industry.

Israeli startup Certora raised $36 million in May, which was the biggest round in the sector.

12 venture deals took place in April, in which the amount of funding amounted to at least $10 million. DeFi projects bloXroute and 0x Labs raised $70 million each, and CertiK, a smart contract auditor, attracted $60 million.
