Grayscale Hires Former DOJ Representative

Donald Beaton Verrilli Jr. has recently joined the team of digital asset manager Grayscale Investments as a legal advisor, the company’s Vice President of Corporate Communications Jennifer Rosenthal has announced.

Verrilli Jr. served as Solicitor General under the Obama administration from 2011 to 2016. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Attorney General in the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Jennifer Rosenthal has highlighted Grayscale Investments’ “unwavering commitment” to transforming GBTC into an exchange-traded fund based on BTC. According to her, the invited expert “possesses a comprehensive, multifaceted understanding of government regulation and the US legal system.”

Grayscale submitted an application to convert a Bitcoin trust into an ETF in October 2021. In February, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) delayed its decision until July 6.
