El Salvador Changes Date of Bitcoin Bonds Placement

The government of El Salvador expected to place its Bitcoin bonds worth $1 billion by the end of this month. According to the Ministry of Finance, investors would be able to purchase securities between March 15 and 20.

However, the ministry has changed its plans and has reported this week that the bonds placement will take place in the near future.

Reuters has reported citing the Finance Minister Alejandro Zelaya that the decision to shift the timing has been made under the pressure of global uncertainty and market risks.

He has highlighted the government may be able to place bonds in May or June if the global economy stabilizes. In addition, he has not ruled out the possibility that the amount of attracted investments may increase to $1.5 billion.
