
Metaplanet Acquires 780 More BTC for $92.5M, Boosting Holdings to $2B
Metaplanet has expanded its Bitcoin portfolio with the purchase of an additional 780 BTC for approximately $92.5 million, reinforcing its bullish stance on the cryptocurrency.
In a Monday disclosure, the Tokyo-listed company revealed it bought the latest batch at an average price of $118,622 per Bitcoin, bringing its total holdings to 17,132 BTC—worth around $2 billion at current market prices.
Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich noted on X that the company’s cumulative average purchase price stands at $101,030 per Bitcoin. According to Bitcointreasuries data, Metaplanet now ranks as the seventh-largest corporate Bitcoin holder globally.
Since launching its Bitcoin accumulation strategy in April 2024, Metaplanet has aggressively pursued its crypto reserves. Last month, it raised its long-term target, aiming to secure over 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027—equivalent to 1% of Bitcoin’s total supply.
