Danske Bank Enters Crypto ETP Market With BlackRock and WisdomTree Offerings
Danske Bank has quietly moved into crypto-adjacent territory, announcing Wednesday that self-directed clients can now buy Bitcoin and Ether ETPs issued by BlackRock and WisdomTree through its retail banking interfaces.
The Danish banking giant, which serves over five million customers regionally, is limiting the service to investors who transact without advisory input and has selected three products — two linked to Bitcoin and one to Ether — for initial availability.
The bank said the decision was shaped by both rising user demand and the clearer compliance environment introduced by the European Union’s MiCA framework. Because the ETPs fall under MiFID II, Danske noted, they carry safeguards and fee transparency that distinguish them from unmediated crypto holdings.
Kerstin Lysholm, head of investment products and offerings, said the bank has registered growing numbers of clients seeking exposure to cryptocurrency as an established asset class and is now offering what it views as a regulated on-ramp.
