Binance Installs Co-Founder as Co-CEO, Strengthening Executive Bench

The cryptocurrency exchange Binance has strengthened its leadership by naming co-founder Yi He as co-CEO, creating a formal partnership at the helm with current CEO Richard Teng.

Richard Teng made the official announcement from the stage at Binance Blockchain Week. He characterized the appointment as an organic development, given Yi He’s enduring involvement with the company’s executive leadership from its launch.

Teng pointed to He’s crucial responsibilities in community growth and product innovation, areas she led as chief marketing officer. Yi He stated that the shared leadership would capitalize on their differing perspectives, particularly Teng’s knowledge of regulated financial systems.

As an original co-founder with Changpeng “CZ” Zhao in 2017, Yi He is deeply embedded in Binance’s history. Richard Teng ascended to the CEO role after CZ’s resignation and guilty plea to US charges in late 2023, having previously served as the head of all regional markets excluding the US.
