Cboe Global Markets Announces Launch of Regulated Digital Asset Continuous Futures
Cboe Global Markets, Inc. today announced its plan to launch Cboe Continuous Futures for Bitcoin and Ether on December 15, 2024, subject to regulatory review. The new derivatives products will be listed on the Cboe Futures Exchange (CFE).
These continuous futures contracts are structured with a 10-year expiration and incorporate a daily cash adjustment mechanism. This design is intended to provide market participants with sustained exposure to the underlying digital assets while mitigating the operational complexity associated with the rolling of traditional futures contracts.
“As perpetual futures have historically been traded offshore, Cboe is excited to help expand access to these products within a US-regulated, transparent, and intermediary-friendly environment,” stated Rob Hocking, Global Head of Derivatives at Cboe. The launch represents a significant development in the accessible suite of risk management tools for digital assets.
