Google is Building a New Digital Payment System for Banks

Google’s cloud division is creating its own secure digital ledger, called GCUL, specifically for banks and financial companies.

The idea is to give these institutions a modern, shared platform to handle automated payments and digital assets without having to build their own complex systems.

A Google executive stated that the key is neutrality—it’s meant to be a universal tool that any company, even rivals, can use comfortably.

To make it easy for developers, it will use the popular programming language Python. Stressing security and rules compliance, Google confirmed this new system is currently being tested privately and will be accessed through a simple online interface.
