Trump White House Releases Crypto Strategy to Secure US Financial Leadership
In a bid to solidify the US as the global hub for digital assets, the Trump administration’s Working Group on Digital Assets has unveiled its long-promised crypto report.
The document outlines policies to regulate market structure, define SEC/CFTC roles, enforce banking rules, promote dollar-backed stablecoins, and implement crypto taxation.
A central proposal is a “taxonomy” system to classify crypto as securities or commodities—with the CFTC overseeing spot markets and the SEC handling investment-like tokens.
The group claims this framework will drive innovation while maintaining investor protection.
SEC Chair Paul Atkins applauded the move, calling it “essential for American innovation, fraud prevention, and global financial leadership.”
