US House Takes Critical Step Toward Crypto Regulation, Votes Loom
The US House has set the stage for a landmark vote on cryptocurrency regulation after approving H.Res 580 (217-212) late Wednesday. The procedural win revives three major bills:
- GENIUS Act: A federal stablecoin framework (already passed by the Senate).
- Clarity Act: Defines SEC and CFTC roles in crypto markets.
- Anti-CBDC Bill: Prohibits the Fed from issuing a digital dollar to individuals.
The GENIUS Act, in particular, could reach President Trump’s desk by week’s end. The bills had stalled Tuesday amid GOP concerns over CBDC risks, but sponsors clarified the language to secure passage.
The Senate must still approve the measures, but the House’s move signals growing momentum for US crypto regulation.
