US Presidential Candidate Ron DeSantis Says He Will Protect Bitcoin If He Wins

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has stated that he will be a defender of cryptocurrency if he is elected to the position of President of the United States in 2024.

The Republican politician hosted a Twitter Spaces event with Elon Musk, which was listened to by 300,000 people.

He said during the event:

“I think people should be able to do Bitcoin. As president, we’ll protect the ability to do things like Bitcoin.”

Although any restrictions need to be discussed and decided by Congress, DeSantis is against any ban.

In May, DeSantis showed his approval toward decentralized assets and promised to prevent the use of any Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) in Florida.

In his criticism of the CBDC, he expressed his support of Republican Robert Francis Kennedy Jr.’s presidential ambitions.
