A Chinese Hacker Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Almost 400 ETH

The People’s Court of Shangrao City, in the province of Guangxi, has convicted a hacker who stole more than 383 ETH from a victim’s phone using a Trojan.

According to local media, the defendant used a Trojan to gain access to the imToken wallet on the victim’s phone in the spring of 2018. During March-April, he made more than 520 withdrawals for a total of 383.6 ETH. Then, the attacker exchanged these coins for 109,458 USDT.

After the arrest of the hacker, the police returned all the stolen assets to the victim.

The court has sentenced the hacker to 10 years and six months in prison and a fine of 200,000 yuan.
