BNB Chain Will Activate a Hard Fork After Recent $100M Hacker Attack

The BNB Chain team is implementing a network upgrade as a “hot fix” following a $100 million BSC Token Hub cross-chain bridge hack.

The hard fork, dubbed Moran, will take place on the mainnet at block #22,107,423, and on the testnet at block #23,603,940.

The objective of the update is to restore the internal cross-chain infrastructure between the BNB Beacon Chain governance blockchain and the BNB Smart Chain consensus layer.

The update includes a fix iavl hash checking vulnerability, introducing a block header into the sequence check of the CrossChain contract as well as the implementation of the “white list” of candidates for network repeaters.

The trading platform behind the chain, Binance, has announced the suspension of deposits and withdrawals in BEP20 tokens.
