Russia Intends to Sell Electricity to Kazakhstan for Crypto Mining

The Russian government is exploring the possibility of supplying electricity to Kazakhstan for the needs of crypto mining companies.

As reported, the current agreement will be amended on the parallel operation of the energy systems of the two countries.

The document provides that Inter RAO will be able to sell electricity to Kazakhstan under commercial contracts concluded with local mining enterprises.

The protocol states that, in accordance with the legislation of Kazakhstan, the supply of electricity for crypto mining in the conditions of its shortage is possible only through planned imports from abroad.

The Kazakh Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) turned off in January the power supply to mining farms. Since then, the restriction has been extended several times.
