Bitstamp Will Stop Services in Canada in January

Bitstamp has announced that it will no longer be offering its services to customers in Canada starting January 8, 2024.

Bobby Zagotta, Bitstamp’s U.S. CEO and Global Chief Commercial Officer, stated that this decision was not made lightly and urged customers to withdraw their funds by the specified date.

This announcement comes after Bitstamp has also stopped certain services in the U.S. due to increasing regulatory scrutiny from organizations like the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The exchange has suspended trading for several cryptocurrencies, including MATIC, SOL, NEAR, AXS, CHZ, MANA and SAND, with the suspension of ether trading reported on August 23 by The Block.

Although Bitstamp will no longer be available for its Canadian customers, it hopes to potentially serve the country again in the future.
