Telegram Integrates a Crypto Wallet

Telegram is providing its over 800 million monthly active users with access to the TON Space self-custodial crypto wallet.

Initially accessible by Telegram Wallet users, the platform will be available to the rest of the world – bar users from the United States and certain other countries – beginning in November.

The move is a continuation of the TON Foundation’s efforts to launch its original vision following a legal dispute with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in 2019 that saw the project delayed.

Those with access to the TON Space wallet will be able to take control of their digital identities and assets, as well as benefit from priority access to Telegram Ads, the company’s global advertising platform.

John Hyman, Telegram’s chief investment officer, commented that “our mission has always been to enable freedom of speech [as] speech is so much more in this digital age.

With TON Space, users now have the technology to make that convenient.
