Crypto Platforms in Colombia Must Now Report User Data to Tax Agency

Colombia’s National Directorate of Taxes and Customs (DIAN) has introduced a new mandatory reporting requirement for local crypto service providers, aimed at increasing transparency and combating tax evasion in the digital asset space.

Under Resolution 000240, which was issued in the final days of 2025, any platform facilitating crypto transactions must collect and submit user data to the tax authority. This includes reporting on trades of prominent digital assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The required submission includes precise information: the identity of account holders, total transaction volume, the count of units transferred, their applicable market value, and net balances. This regulation brings local operators in line with the OECD’s global reporting standard.

While the rule took effect upon publication, the obligation to gather and report data began for the 2026 tax year. Service providers have until the end of May 2027 to deliver their first annual report encompassing all of 2026.
