Hong Kong Enters Tokenization Era with Landmark Franklin Templeton Fund

Hong Kong has ushered in a new phase for its financial sector with the launch of its first tokenized fund by Franklin Templeton.

The move directly supports the government’s newly unveiled five-year fintech strategy, “Fintech 2030,” which aims to embed AI and blockchain across the industry.

The fund uses blockchain tokens to represent investor shares and is being tested in the HKMA’s Project Ensemble sandbox with banking giant HSBC and licensed crypto platform OSL. The initiative marks a significant step in Hong Kong’s ambition to become a global leader in digital finance.
