CFTC Opens Door for US Traders on Foreign Crypto Exchanges
The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has clarified a path for foreign cryptocurrency exchanges to provide legal access to American traders.
The guidance, issued in a staff advisory, aims to resolve confusion around how non-US platforms should register.
Acting Chair Caroline Pham stated this move reverses the “regulation by enforcement” approach of recent years, which she said had “driven out” trading activity.
The new clarity provides a way for American companies that relocated overseas to return to US markets, aligning with the agency’s push to be more industry-friendly.
