OCC Terminates Enforcement Action Against Anchorage Digital Following Remediation

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has formally terminated the consent order issued against Anchorage Digital National Association in 2022.

The order, which addressed identified deficiencies in the bank’s Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) compliance program, was deemed no longer necessary after the institution demonstrated sustained compliance.

This action coincides with a strategic shift in the federal regulatory approach to digital assets. Agencies including the OCC and Federal Reserve have moved to provide clearer, more supportive guidance for regulated banking institutions engaging with cryptocurrency, marking a significant evolution from previous policy stances.

Anchorage Digital’s status as a federally chartered institution positions it uniquely to capitalize on this new regulatory landscape.
