From Football to Crypto Policy: Bo Hines’ White House Exit
Bo Hines’ tenure as head of the White House’s crypto advisory council is coming to an end. The former college football star turned crypto advocate will step down, passing the baton to his deputy, Patrick Witt, according to reporter Eleanor Terrett.
Hines, appointed by President Trump in 2024, quickly immersed himself in the crypto world, meeting with over 150 industry players in his first few months.
“We act as a bridge between policy and industry,” he said earlier this year.
Though leaving his official role, Hines isn’t cutting ties completely—he’ll stay on as an advisor, helping AI and Crypto czar David Sacks. “The crypto ecosystem in the US will keep thriving,” he wrote in a farewell post.
His successor, Witt, brings his own political backstory: a former Trump administration official, he once attracted Peter Thiel’s financial support for a congressional run before shifting to a doomed state campaign.
