BTC Surpasses $110,000 for First Time in History
For the first time, Bitcoin has broken the $110,000 barrier, achieving a 3% rise in just one day and surpassing prior price peaks from earlier this year. It hit its highest point at $110,788.98 on Coinbase late on May 21, shortly before 11:30 pm UTC.
Bitcoin has increased approximately 3% over the past 24 hours, moving past its earlier peak of $109,458 reached the same day, which was the first to exceed the previous high from January 20.
As the foremost cryptocurrency, Bitcoin has grown 17.5% this year and has risen 47% since plummeting to $75,000 on April 7, following extensive tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
This new height occurs as US stock markets face instability due to a weak 20-year bond auction on May 21 that elevated treasury yields. The S&P 500 dropped 80 points rapidly, with similar patterns observed in the Nasdaq and Dow Jones, resulting in a widespread downturn in US market indices.
