BlackRock: Bitcoin Could Threaten US Dollar Dominance
In his 2025 annual letter to shareholders, BlackRock Chairman and CEO Larry Fink acknowledged that Bitcoin could challenge the US dollar’s status as the global reserve currency.
He highlighted Bitcoin as both a disruptive innovation and a geopolitical risk if the US government fails to manage debt and deficits. Fink stated, “If the US doesn’t control its debt and deficits, it risks losing its position to digital assets like Bitcoin.”
This marks a significant recognition from the leader of the world’s largest asset manager that digital assets could serve as an alternative to the US dollar globally.
Fink mentioned Bitcoin seven times and the dollar eight times, underscoring the importance of this comparison in his annual letter.
