Wall Street’s Benchmark Builder Acknowledges Crypto with New Hybrid Index
S&P Global, the cornerstone of traditional finance indices, is formally bridging the gap between digital and traditional assets. The company revealed plans for the S&P Digital Markets 50, a first-of-its-kind index that merges cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum with stocks of companies driving the blockchain revolution.
“This offers market participants consistent, rules-based tools to evaluate and gain exposure,” said Cameron Drinkwater of S&P Dow Jones Indices, indicating that the firm now views digital assets as a permanent fixture in global markets.
By applying its renowned methodology—including diversification caps and market-cap filters—to this new hybrid index, S&P Global is providing a legitimized and structured pathway for the investment world to engage with the digital asset ecosystem.
