SEC Postpones Solana ETF Approvals, Reflecting Wider Crypto ETF Scrutiny
The US SEC has delayed its decision on Bitwise and 21Shares. Solana ETF proposals, moving the deadline to October 16—a move consistent with its approach to other crypto-related ETFs.
The agency stated it needed additional time to assess the filings, mirroring previous delays for Grayscale and Fidelity’s Solana ETF bids. The SEC has been inundated with crypto ETF applications, including those for XRP and DOGE, as regulatory attitudes shift under a new administration.
While firms like ProShares and Canary have refined their filings to improve approval odds, the SEC’s cautious stance means further delays are likely. The coming months will reveal whether Solana ETFs follow Bitcoin and Ethereum funds in gaining regulatory acceptance.
