Argentina Finalizes New Crypto Regulatory Framework

Argentina’s securities regulator has established rules for virtual asset service providers (VASPs), detailing conduct codes and custody requirements for cryptocurrency exchanges and digital asset platforms.

Published on March 13 by the National Securities Commission (CNV) under General Resolution No. 1058, the regulations require VASPs to adhere to obligations for registration, cybersecurity, asset custody, money laundering prevention, and risk disclosure.

The aim of these regulations is to ensure “transparency, stability, and user protection in the crypto ecosystem.”

Argentine tax lawyer Diego Fraga noted that the guidelines mandate the separation of company and client funds, annual audits, and monthly reporting to the CNV.
